UpStage Teachers and Tutors

Our teachers are university-qualified and bring industry experience and a passion for their craft to each lesson. They believe in the power of drama to develop students into confident, mature, and creative individuals.

All teachers are approved for working with children and hold a current Working With Children Check number.

Teachers are assisted by senior students from Upstage who have demonstrated leadership and a willingness to pass on their skills. These tutors are carefully chosen by the Director.

Fees & payments

Admin Levy: We have an annual administration fee of $40 per family. This fee covers public liability insurance and admin and enrolment costs. Students also receive a snazzy t-shirt to wear to their weekly classes, rehearsals and productions.

Trial Lesson Fee: Students wishing to trial lessons at UpStage must pay the above enrolment levy plus $39 BEFORE their first lesson. All new students are given the opportunity to come along and try three of our regular weekly classes. If you decide to continue, the balance of the full term fee becomes due immediately. The three classes must be trialled in consecutive weeks.

Production Levy: At times during the year students are given the additional opportunity to audition and perform in one of our major productions. Successful auditionees pay a production levy of $100 per cast member.

NOTE: Production levies help to alleviate extra costs such as venue hire, rehearsal venue hire, costumes, props, sets etc. Every effort is made to keep all of our fees and prices to a minimum.

Attendance

Punctuality is extremely important at Upstage Youth Theatre. If you intend to become a professional in this extremely competitive industry, punctuality will put you in good stead. Your teacher will also remember punctuality when it comes to casting productions.

It is important that you contact UpStage if you are going to be absent from class. If a student misses 3 or more classes in a term without notification it will be assumed that you are not returning. This will result in you forfeiting your position in any subsequent performance opportunity or productions you may have been involved in and your position in your class will be reopened for other enrolments.

important information

Program Changes: Upstage reserves the right to make program changes without prior notice or to cancel a course.

Confirmation and Acknowledgement

Upon signing your enrolment form you are stating that you understand, acknowledge and agree with all of the above stated.

Failing to adhere to the above may mean you could be in breach of your enrolment agreement. Therefore this could result in a forfeit of your position in any subsequent performances and your position in the class may be reopened for other enrolments.
